Recently, I've been reading a book called "I Kissed Dating Goodbye". It was a christmas gift given to me by my pastors.
Most other books on dating will tell you how to make dating work. But this book, it actually tells you how to make your life pleasing to God, even if that means taking a break from dating.
The author of this book isn't convincing people to stop dating. He just wants to help people examine the aspects of life that dating touches - the way we treat others, the way we prepare for our future mate, our personal purity and look at what it means to bring these areas in line with God's Word.
As I flipped the page to chapter 1, I was so hooked to it till I always bring it out with me and read it on the train.
As I continue reading, I came across this chapter that indicates 'The seven habits of highly defective dating'
These seven habits are some of the "swerves" dating relationships often make. Perheps you can relate to one or two of them.

1. Dating tends to skip the friendship stage of a relationship.
2. Dating often mistakes a physical relationship for love.
3. Dating often isolates a couple from other vital relationships. - I so agree with this statement. I started thinking, how many people end dating relationships only to find their ties to other friends severed? hmmm.....
4. Dating can distract young adults from their primary responsibility of preparing for the future.
5. Dating can cause discontentment with God's gift of singleness.
6. Dating can create an artificial environment for evaluating another person's character.
7. Dating often becomes an end in itself.

I have friends telling me to stop reading this book for fear that it might influence my mind about dating.
Come to think of it, this book isn't that bad. It actually speaks to me alot about my life.
Being single is not that bad. Look at it this way, if I view singleness as a gift from God, I can learn to be content with friendships during the time God wants me to remain single. With this, I can also clear my life of the clutter that short-term relationships contribute. I can even pursue more effective ministry and deeper friendship with people of both genders.
As a single, I can even have all the freedom I want. I can have the freedom right now to explore, study and tackle the world.

I know, I know my friends can't wait for me to have a boyfriend.
But wells, is not about me finding a boyfriend. It's about me finding the right and perfect one. :)
Don't worry E, my mind won't be corrupted. Hehe!

Time flies! 2008 is coming to an end in just a day!
Is like the moment I closed my eyes, "bling" 2009 is here already! Everything happened in just a split second. sofast, sofast, SO SO FAST!
I remembered during GEL meet last saturday, Kenneth asked us two questions.
1) What was that one thing in 2008 that left a big impact in your life?
2) What was that one thing you messed up in 2008?

I started pondering about these two questions.
2008 has been a year full of ups and downs!
But, whatever bad times or down times we are facing, life must still go on! This whole chapter of 2008 is coming to an end in just a day!!!
Will 2009 be a better year? I sincerely hope so.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christmas this year was spent with the poly classmates.
Wee and Shawn couldn't make it because Wee hurt his butt during one of his trainings in OCS. Poor boy, I hope his butt is recovering.
Shawn as usual, busy dating. He's never free!

And so the rest of us had Waraku at Marina Square. (We will always make it a point to have Christmas dinner few days before or after Christmas)
This year, we did something different. We had gift exchange.
And we added a rule to it. NO FOODS/CHOCOLATES ARE ALLOWED!
I bet the guys had a hard time cracking their heads on what to get other than chocolates. hah!
It was a lovely Christmas night. Great food, great company! :)

Boxing day was spent with cher and her darling in town. A super random meet-up!
E came and off we went to phuture.
Initial plan was to collect my new card and then stay for awhile and then head off to somewhere else. But then, we bumped into Serena and Eileen and we got the both of them to join us.

Eileeeeeeeeeeen, was great bumping into you that night. We should catch up with other soon! You Take Care alright?

:)

Bugis with goodfriend the next day. We sat down at STARBUCKS to eat NASI LEMAK. I bet there were people starring at us.

Not shy one lor. Still can ask me pose for pic somemore. tsk tsk tsk! LOLS!

While we were on the train to Tampines, she said she wanted to hear the song "Shout to the Lord" because she's feeling excited about church! And so, we started singing Christian songs on the train and we were totally oblivious to the people around us. I think they must be wondering what are we girls up to.
And I bumped into my cliques back in EI0510/NYP days.

Geraldine and Suhui!!!!! It's time for us to meet up with the rest!!!

Brought goodfriend to church.
No, to be exact, she was the one who wanted to go to church. I have to thank her because I had no intention to go church since most of the senior youths are not in SG and I'm very very glad she went.
Goodfriend, I don't mind bringing you to church every saturday!

Church toilet

After church, we went over to City Hall and we had the very delicious chicken rice for dinner!
Went over to STARBUCKS (AGAIN). I think I'll soon be influenced by her.
While waiting for Jenny, we sat down at the sofa, listening to our IPODS, reading our own storybooks. For a moment, I wasn't complaining about how late Jenny was. Infact, while waiting for her, I felt super relaxed. Shall we do this more often goodfriend?

Timbre after that.
Goodfellas was playing that night. And Sarah from 58A sang Lucky with them.
Oh, and I love Sarah's voice. Her vocals are superb!

Timbre at Substation

Heading to Gab's condo later for a swim with that bimbo cousin of mine.
I hope I'll be able to wake up!

Sister's BIG Day!

20th December marks the most important day in my sister's life.
The day before her big day, georgina and the char sisters stayed over our place to prepare for the big day. Char1 and I stayed up till about 315AM because we were busy painting our nails.
I woke up at 430AM feeling excited. My sis make-up artist; Sally and Fyonne GF came over to our place at 6AM.
I felt so bad because F did not catch a wink at all. She did my hairdo and make-up and even help my two cousins, mum and aunt with theirs. (THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH GF FOR MAKING A TRIP DOWN SO EARLY IN THE MORNING!)
The rest of the entourage came at around 645AM to do some last minute preparation!

First Stage

At exactly 7am, my bro-in-law came with his Lexus, followed by his entourage, they let out a SUPER LOUD "Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep".

By then, we were all super hyper and excited already.
The ladies had a good one hour sabotaging my bro-in-law and his brothers.
I wasn't sure what was happening outside because I was in the room with my sis.
But I must say my bro-in-law and sis have realy wonderful and super steady friends! :)

Miss Ng (NOW Mrs Leong) with the Leong family. So happened that my bro-in-law is also Leong! FATED!

The three of us grew up together, played together, go to school together...

My beautiful sis. :)

Sisters' entourage a.k.a jiemeis

The theme for her wedding was Rainbow. So, that explains why the ribbons are tied around them. The guys ties are made up of the seven colours of rainbow as well.

After the guys successfully crossed all stages, it was time for the tea ceremony, followed by photo-taking session. :)

If only grandma was there...Then, it would be an extremely perfect pic.

Ladies and Gentlemen

Set off to Kenny's house for tea-ceremony before proceeding to Trinity Methodist Church for their Holy Matrimony.

Joshua; our all time favourite and Pretty Evangeline in their Scout and Guide uniform. SUPER CUTE RIGHT???

Mini version of my bro-in-law and sis, Paige Boy, Flower Girls

Exchanging their marraige vows

Lighting of Unity Candles

Giving their speech

I was really touched by my sister's speech.
And I could see tears rolling down my uncle, aunt, grandfather and my parents' eyes while my sis thank each and everyone of them.

Uncle William, Aunty Rebecca (Pastors of our church) and their daughters + Ivor.

The Leong Family!

We are named The Five Fantastic Female Fighting Forces by The Als. Those were the Glad Tidings East days...

Wtih the pretty sisters

Meilan

The two "aunties", Zeng Zi and Georgina. Thanks for being there!

Sisters-in-Guiding

Mr and Mrs Leong. Both of them must be tired from smiling. Look at Kenny. Hah!

Followed my sis to Swissotel The Stamford to rest before the dinner starts.
I'm amazed by the Presidential Suite at Swissotel.
They stayed at 66th storey and so, the scenery from their room is SUPERB!

Their presidential suite

Looooooking down from the top

The food was delicious.
It was my first time sitting at the Red table. And people seated at the red tables are treated like Kings and Queens. Haha!!
Now, I can't wait for my brother to get married. lols.

The Newly Weds

The ex-Sacians

Thanks bestfriend for taking leave just to attend the dinner. :)

Thanks Babe for entertaning Dawn that night.

Rest of the pics can be found in Facebook.

I'm truly happy for my sis.
Like what my sister sms-ed me before she flew to Taiwan for her honeymoon, "Don't worry, I'm still your sister and you got yourself a new brother. Will miss you too..." Those words really touched me, I couldn't control my tears.
She has been living with me for the past 22 years of my life. Now that she has been "given away" to another family, it'll take time for me to adapt this new life without her.

I've never once tell her how wonderful is she as a sister.
I never really had a chance to sit down and have a gooooood long talk with her.
I never had a chance to tell her how much I looked up to her.
Though we are not as close as other sisters are, no doubt, I'll definitely miss her.
But wells, at least I know she's in safe hands. :)

School's starting in another two more weeks.
And I'm terribly broke. *Sigh!
And I haven't break my repeat module news to my dad. *Double Sigh!

I NEED A PART TIME JOB!!!!

Christmas is four days away but yet, I don't have the christmas mood.
It's only today when I went church, then I realised Christmas is coming.
The adults went around giving out presents, wishing one another "Blessed Christmas".
I love Christmas period because that's when you'll go around exchanging and receiving gifts, attend parties, drink wine/sparkling juice, eat turkey/ham, etc.
But, I think as one grows older, gifts from people will be lesser and lesser.
A few of the youths in church will make it a habit to exchange gifts every year without fail. We'll draw lots and then start searching for gifts just two weeks before christmas.
And every year, my christmas will be spent with the church mates. We'll go for a simple chritsmas dinner. After which, head to someone's house to exchange our gifts, watch nice dvds and stay over. Christmas is always fun with them around.
Sadly, this year christmas will be a boring one. :(
Sis will not be around this christmas as she will be flying off to Taiwan tomorrow for her honeymoon and she will only be back in a month's time. So, that means New Year's eve and New Year's day will be boring too.
The chars and Ivor will be leaving for HK this tuesday.
Looks like the church will be damn empty/quiet without all of them.

Oh wells, talking about christmas, I met up with PrisSY, Cher and Dawn on Wednesday night for a simple dinner planned by Pris.
It was a pre-christmas dinner + a short gathering.
It has been a loooooooong time since we sat down to have dinner together.

At Taka waiting for that Hello Kitty Woman.

Couldn't decide on where/what to eat. We ended up at Cine's HK Cafe.
Whenever I'm there, I'll always order my standard Soup noodles with Ham and Egg and Iced Milk Tea.
And HK Cafe reminds me of the womanilove, young, sabby and tao!

1, 2, 3 Smileeeee. HAHAHA! (*inside joke)

Here comes Prissy! Oh, and these are our Christmas gifts from Dawn!

I could still remember, last year we exchanged presents too!
Thanks bestfriend for the Crabtree and Evelyn hand therapy cream. Hope you like the shimmer lotion as well. :)

Shuling came and find us after her work.
Super long never see this girl also.
After which, we walked down to Wisma. And thanks to Bodyshop, they made me swipe my card.
I think I'm going to eat bread starting from next week.

Short of Bee and Victor

I chopped off like 2.5cm of my hair but no one noticed. :(

Hah. We took the brochure to cover our heads because while we were making our way to heeren, there were ALOT of birds on top. Better to play safe right? We weren't acting cute! We REALLY did use that brochure to cover our heads!!

Sat down at Spinelli to chill and slack.
Jackson came to look for me in town and we waited for E's call before heading down to The Arena to meet the rest of our uni mates.

Spinelli

Headed down to The Arena to meet the rest of the SIM mates.
It was my virgin trip to The Arena and I don't really like the place though the music was superb.
We left around 1am and headed down to Zouk for mambo.
Goodness, it was crowded like as though Zouk were giving out freebies.

Welcome Jeane!

Wasn't really in the mood to club that night. Prolly is because it was way too crowded.
Talking about mambo, I miss mambo-ing with my sis.
Now that she's "given away" to another family, I don't know when will I ever have a chance to club with her again. :(

Friday night was spent at Jackson's place.
E, F and myself got invited to his Christmas party.
We travelled ALL THE WAY DOWN TO BUKIT GOMBAK! His house was located at some wulu street. My gosh la, super far. I don't know how can anyone lives in the west. Is sooooooo inconvenient man.
Coincidentally, fyonne and I both wore the same colour. :)

EFG, as usual.

After dinner, we went all the way up to 3rd storey to explore Jackson's room.
Didn't know his "HDB" was soooo big.

It's just so coincidental that we were all dressed in christmas colours

Two more weeks to the end of holidays.
My timetable sucks. The first week of school, I have lessons from 5th Jan - 10th Jan! Monday - Saturday will be spent in school. HOW GREAT?
Okie, next post will be on my sister's big day!
P/S: Thanks GF for NOT sleeping and travelling all the way down at 530AM from your place just to help me with my hairdo and make-up. Love you!

I miss not having my sister at home
